This Web site has two parts.
One is the Eyewitnesses section, which contains transcripts of first-person Civil War accounts that I have been making since 1986 for the Eyewitnesses at the Battle of series of books.
The other part of the site is Still Standing, which tells the Civil War stories of antebellum homes that can be seen today in Middle Tennessee.
The Eyewitnesses Accounts let men, women and children who were there tell you what it was like to be thrown into the racket and slaughter of a Civil War battle. Use the buttons below to read the accounts.

Most are open to the public and welcome visitors. Some, however, are private homes, and are not open to the public.
